Kena Gold Project Update
|Kena Property, BC|
Sultan Minerals Inc. (SUL-TSX Venture) 2002 exploration program is now well underway on its Kena gold Property, located in southeastern British Columbia. Exploration began in early June and consists of surface work designed to prepare six additional gold target areas for diamond drill testing. Surface work programs include geological mapping and rock chip sampling, soil geochemical surveys, line cutting, induced polarization geophysical surveys and GPS surveying of the planned drill targets.
The Kena Property consists of numerous gold rich zones including the recently discovered Gold Mountain Zone (see New Releases dated April 30, 2002 & February 25, 2002). Previous exploration programs focused predominantly on the Kena Gold Target located 2 kilometres south of the Gold Mountain Zone discovery area. Recent work by Sultan Minerals indicates that these two gold bearing zones may be hosted by a single mineralized feature. The South Gold Zone located about 5 kilometres south of the Gold Mountain Zone discovery area is a third gold target defined by soil geochemistry that may be controlled by this mineralized structure. Several adjacent and parallel trenching targets are also currently being evaluated. Most of these historic targets were worked in the late 1800s and early 1900s and have now been put together as a single land package by Sultan. These targets include the Great Western, Tough Nut, South Gold Zone, Starlight, Cariboo and Silver King Mine.
Exploration work to date on the Kena Property has expanded the soil geochemical coverage of the Kena Gold Zone, the South Gold Zone, the Silver King Mine area and is currently underway in the vicinity of the Starlight claim. Line cutting in preparation for induced polarization geophysical surveys has been completed in the Kena Gold Zone, Silver King Mine area and is currently underway in the South Gold Zone. Induced polarization surveying has recently commenced on the Kena Gold Zone and will progress to the Silver King Mine area, South Gold Zone, Tough Nut, Cariboo and Starlight areas. GPS surveys are underway over all grid areas, topographical features and drill collars (both recent and historical). Geological mapping and sampling has been completed on the Great Western and Starlight and is currently underway in the Silver King Mine area.
Trenching and diamond drilling will commence soon on the Kena Gold Zones and Gold Mountain Zones. The planned drill program will continue to explore and expand these two important gold zones as well as test the five additional targets discussed above.
