Mon Sep 22, 2003 Sultan Minerals Resumes Exploration At Kena Back-Country Ban Lifted | |
Sultan Minerals Inc. (SUL-TSX Venture) is pleased to announce that it has now resumed the 2003 exploration program on its Kena Property in the Kootenay District of British Columbia. Forest fire conditions in southern British Columbia this summer led to a ban on access to crown land including the Kena Property. This ban has now been lifted. Initial work will now focus on completion of the ground magnetic survey to tie in the northern extension of the previously defined high-grade magnetic corridor with the historic Athabasca Mine workings located approximately 3 kilometres along strike to the north. The majority of this survey was completed prior to the forest closure, with only tie lines remaining to be run. The previous structural mapping program, completed by Dr. Trygve Hoy, has shown that gold concentrations are often enriched along brittle structures that cut a low-grade porphyry gold system in the Silver King intrusion. This information has given an understanding of both local and regional ore controls that will assist in targeting areas for follow up by trenching and diamond drilling. Final versions of his detailed compilation map are now being completed and additional geological, structural and alteration studies will be conducted in areas as recommended by him. This mapping program is now underway and will more precisely define drill targets for immediate follow up. Drilling is expected to commence in early October. Arthur G. Troup, P.Eng.
